Ludgvan School

About Us

Ludgvan School is situated in the heart of Ludgvan village, near Marazion and Penzance, close to Mounts Bay.  It is a modern building set in beautiful grounds with the benefit of superb views across the countryside.  Internally, the school is carpeted and, where appropriate, natural materials are used for furnishing. All this helps to create a calm, attractive learning environment.

The school’s emblem is an anemone, which appears on the school uniform.  This dates from the days when anemones were grown in Ludgvan in profusion for market.

There is a school hall in which the pupils have physical education, lunch and meet for assemblies.  There are two playgrounds, and an all-weather surface outdoors.  We share the spacious community sports field, which backs on to the school grounds.

The Oasis Nursery, which is on the school site, welcomes children from the age of 3 months, as well as offering holiday and before/after school care for pupils at Ludgvan School. The school itself caters for children from 4-11 years in 7 classes.  Currently there are 200 pupils on role.

Our primary school is open to children from Ludgvan and its surrounding areas, is non-selective and co-educational. Full admission details, including over subscriptions, can be found in the admissions policy in the policy section.

The school’s published admission number is 30 for all year groups. If you would like to have a tour of the school, we would love to show you around. Please email s.ranson@ludgvan.cornwall.sch.uk or phone 01736 740408 to arrange a tour.

Our Approach

Our biggest achievement is having such a positive team and family atmosphere about the school, ultimately resulting in very happy children. Character education and the development of personal values enhance our children’s educational experience and their sense of emotional safety in our community. We live by values, or aspects of character in our school. These virtues are instilled and reinforced as our students go about their daily learning. We acknowledge and honour, when a child is demonstrating them in our classrooms.

Our Achievements

We were delighted to have been graded as a 'Good' school in 2024 by Ofsted. This truly reflected the hard work, dedication and teamwork of the staff, governors, parents, community and most importantly, our children.

As well as academic performance, we pride ourselves on offering a wide and varied curriculum, consisting of residential trips, education visits, and engaging extra curricular clubs and opportunities.

We are a pioneering school, always looking out for new and exciting opportunities to enhance the teaching and learning of our pupils.
