Residential Trips & Visits

Residential Trips

At Ludgvan School we believe the valuable experiences that children gain from
residential trips should be for all year groups, not just KS2. To that end, we run
a comprehensive residential programme that develops as your child moves
through school. This ensures that no residential is ever too big a jump for them
to manage and they can rely on their experiences from the previous year.

In Y1, children have a 1 night sleepover in school. This gives children the
opportunity to spend the night away from home with their friends, with the
security that home isn’t too far away.

In Y2, children spend the night at Carnyorth Outdoor Education Centre. Again,
fairly local, but a different environment where the children enjoy a range of fun
activities.

In Y3, children spend 2 nights at the Eden Project. They sleep in ‘snooze boxes’
and take part in a range of activities at Eden, including exploring the biomes at
night.

In Y4, we head to London for 2 nights. We travel by train, navigate the
underground, visit the Houses of Parliament, watch a West End show, enjoy the
London Eye and meet new friends from John Scurr School.

Our Y5 children enjoy an action packed 2 nights at Porthpean Outdoor Education
Centre, where they tackle the high ropes course, coasteer their way around the
coastline and develop their teamwork skills.

Y6 head to France in the summer term. The itinerary changes from year to year,
but they travel on the Plymouth-Roscoff ferry and immerse themselves in French
culture for 3 days before returning home.
Isles of Scilly Trip.

We also offer a week long camping trip to the Isles of Scilly. We explore the
islands, make new friends from Five Islands Academy and enjoy the more laid
back approach of island life.

School trips and visits

We are fully committed to ensuring our children benefit from learning outside of
the classroom as much as they do inside. We have three school minibuses which
enables us to take a whole class out of school with ease. Our staff make the
most of this opportunity and take their classes on many trips linked to their in
school earning. Please see below for some of the trips that have taken place so
far this year…
